A transformative journey. One year at Essers.

When I first started at Essers, I hadn't exercised regularly in over 20 years but my doctor told me to lose weight "or else".
After six months of training my medical issues were resolved. I'm in the best shape of my life, both mentally and physically, with the help of the amazing coaches. Essers has changed my life and the community of athletes I train with are just as special.
#1 - Show Up
Committing to three days a week provides me with the motivation to keep working. I'd still be sitting on the couch without that structure.
#2 - Chase Change
When I first started at Essers, I hadn't exercised regularly in over 20 years but my doctor told me to lose weight or else. After six months of training my medical issues were resolved.
#3 - Grow No Matter What
Sometimes it takes a while to see the progress in the mirror but focusing on the smaller victories keeps me going.
#4 - Embrace Conflict
Being open and honest with yourself and your coaches is the key to success. Nobody knows my body better than me so I've learned to speak up when something is either too easy or doesn't feel quite right. It makes all the difference.
#5 - Let Go of Old Assumptions
I never thought I'd be able to do a box jump or lift 200lbs on a trap bar (didn't even know what a trap bar was before I started) but I've done both in my mid 40s!
#6 - Confront Yourself
I couldn't have imagined what I was physically capable of until I actually did it in the gym. I'd have never known if I hadn't tried.
#7 - Rebel Against Normal
Before Essers, normal for me was sitting on the couch and ordering Uber Eats every night. I've changed my diet (everything in moderation) and now training is an essential part of my routine.
#8 - Do Better Together
Essers has changed my life and the community of athletes I train with are just as special. Working out with the same people all the time builds a support system and makes it fun. The coaches are amazing!! They truly care about the athletes and work hard to get the best out of everyone! I wouldn't have made the progress I have without their help.
